Why Gyeongju?
Gyeongju was the capital of the Silla Kingdom for nearly 1,000 years. Today it's often called "the museum without walls" — royal burial mounds rise among coffee shops, a 7th-century observatory stands in the middle of a park, and a cave shrine carved 1,300 years ago still draws pilgrims. It's 2 hours from Seoul by KTX and 1 hour from Busan — perfect as a day trip or an overnight.
